Charlie Brooker, on the f-ing money.

Important caveat, though, is that the women that come in to replace the men need to be actual women, not women pretending to be men. (As all of them from Thatcher to Hillary Clinton seem to have been.)

Top marks for being keen! Saw the Nick Clegg interview today - love the bit about his kid holding up a piece of paper saying 'Blah blah blah...' !

But the best thing in G2 today has to be this: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2009/jun/01/charlie-brooker-women-men-power

Turns out I'm thrice registered, offering me treble the opportunity for a ballot-spoil.

An interesting Martin Kettle op-ed here, tangentially related to our conversation on Saturday: http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2009/may/28/labour-reform-a-new-politics

And I also find myself, reluctantly, coming round to Nick Clegg. This G2 interview certainly helped: http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2009/jun/01/interview-nick-clegg-liberal-democrats

Shiiiit. Look at your tags. Barack Obama. European Parliament. Home Office. The Scotsman.

Now look at mine. Susan Boyle. Eurovision. Big Brother. Frank Lampard.

Ever get the feeling our careers are heading in different directions?

Thanks for your comment; it is interesting to hear that the turnout problem is as bad elsewhere in the EU - I had thought the UK was the least-engaged member country. I hope voter registration campaigns are a success both here and in Hungary.

The BNP are as 'fringe' as Respect. Nobody I know, or, indeed, don't know, is launching a co-ordinated campaign to make sure we 'stop Respect and their vile message of anti-Semitic hate'. Although, notwithstanding the manner in which the mainstream media fixates on the BNP like a stingray on a TV naturalist, that would be a logical step, no?

Hi!

Low turnout is also a problem here in Hungary. The parties scatter the cities and towns with their ad's, but they only scare away people from voting, thanks to their pessimistic and offensive nature.
I hope the next EP will be able to handle the ongoing crisis without pumping another millions of euros into the bank-system.
Fruitful elections to both of us :)

But surely blogging and, even more, the feedback sections on blogs and news articles is a part of the 24 hour news issue? What responsibility do bloggers and the like have to ensure accuracy and act with integrity?

The House of Lords, in its current form, is an anachronistic stain on our political system. I struggle to understand or recall why reformists and their voices were satiated and silenced by Blair's abolition of the hereditary nature of a peerage, all those years ago. I remember it happening and then... nothing. Leaving a loophole for Mandy presumably.

Archer: what a loathsome ****.
